Reverend Edward F. Van Hootegem
Pastor, St. John the Baptist 1881 - 1892

Fr. E. F. Van Hootegem was born in East Flanders, Belgium, March 3, 1856.His Education included the classics, and philosophy at St. Nicholas in Belgium and theology at the American College, Louvain, Belgium, where he was a classmate of Fr. J. V. Fox, a future bishop of Green Bay. Edward Van Hootegem was ordained at Roermond, Holland, by Bishop John A. Paredis on April 2, 1881. On September 10, 1881, Fr. Van Hootegem was appointed to St. John's by bishop Krautbauer.
