Honor Guard

The Knights of Columbus is a world-wide Catholic Men’s Organization. And since its founding in 1882, Knights are called to be chivalrous Catholic Gentlemen who, where needed, work to provide for the welfare of women and children in our community. In doing so, Knights strive to live-out our faith through the Four Principles – or Degrees – of their Order:

Charity: Love thy Neighbor as Thyself

Unity: None of us is as strong as All of us

Fraternity: Service to Brother Knights and their Families

Patriotism: Proud devotion to God and Country

In demonstration of Patriotism – the 4TH Degree Honor Guard wears a very special uniform. Their Regalia includes Red, White, and Blue – the colors of our Nation. And their Swords – which symbolize their Protection of the Holy Catholic Church, and the Defense of our faith.

The Honor Guard’s purpose is to enhance our worship with a certain “Esprit de Corps.” And the Knights endeavor to bring Dignity, Pride, Respect, and Honor to any functions where they are present.

When knighthood was in bloom, knights carried the sword to defend their God, their Church, their country and their fellow man according to the Code of Chivalry. Today, Sir Knights wear regalia and carry the sword to honor Christ and His apostles, especially on religious and civic occasions. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to encourage active Catholic citizenship and foster the spirit of patriotism in members and the community at large.
