Christ Renews His Parish Weekend at St. John the Baptist Catholic Community

"CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH"...
... is a retreat weekend, where you will experience a personal spiritual renewal and an abundance of love in Christian community. "Christ Renews His Parish" is a process designed to bring members of our parish together in Christ. The process consists of three parts. The first is a gift of the weekend to you where you "come away" from the everyday world for several days of listening, sharing, prayer, fun and food. The second is your gift to other members of our parish. This is where you come together as a new team with the men or women with whom you participated on your weekend, to grow in the light of God and to prepare a weekend for those to follow you. The last is your gift to the community where you simply take your renewed heart into your everyday life and share your love for God through example and service, especially in our parish.

WHAT SETS IT APART FROM OTHER RETREATS?

This is a retreat unlike any you have previously attended. Parishioners share with one another the ways they have found meaning, hope, peace and love in their lives. The experience is personal, inspirational, and fulfilling. Many participants feel that the weekend experience has been among the most powerful and positive of their lives.

This is the perfect way to establish a stronger bond with your God and fellow parishioners. The atmosphere is casual and you will begin friendships that will last a lifetime. Some of your fellow parishioners, who have previously attended, will be happy to share their experience.  

There are two sessions, one for men and the other for women. The two weekends are not mixed sessions and allow for a husband and wife to attend on the different weekends and still attend to family needs.
This weekend is very similar to half time during a football game, where time has been set aside to rest, regroup, make midcourse adjustments, rethink strategies, refresh, and you ready yourself for a victorious 2nd half. The "Christ Renews His Parish" Weekend is a break from our busy schedule of personal, business and family obligations so that we can refresh ourselves spiritually and be ready for the rest of the game of life.

WHAT HAPPENS ON A CRHP WEEKEND?

The substance of the weekend is the presentation of a number of talks in which individuals share their faith stories with the participants. Group discussion and response are invited following each presentation. Opportunities for Scripture sharing, Reconciliation, and Eucharist are provided throughout the weekend.

WHO CONDUCTS THE RETREAT?

This retreat is led by a group of parishioners who have already experienced the Christ Renews His Parish weekend.

WHY HAVE I BEEN ASKED TO ATTEND?

Your name has been suggested by someone who did the CRHP previously as a potential participant to this parish CRHP weekend.  Since CRHP is an ongoing process within the parish, it is our hope that you will become so enthused, that you will assist in a future CRHP weekend here at our own parish.  It is not necessary that you do so, but that is our hope.

WHEN AND WHERE IS IT BEING HELD?

• Men’s Session: Sept. 22-23, 2012
• Women’s Session: Sept. 29-30, 2012
• Weekends are held at St. John’s.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE RETREAT?

• The retreat format involves short talks given by the Christ Renews His Parish team. This is not a silent retreat.
• The emphasis is on personal and parish renewal.
• The process is centered on the sharing of God's love by members of the present team and small group sharing in a very liturgical, scriptural and prayerful atmosphere.
• There will be no pressure on you to talk or share.
• The renewal process does not come on like a tornado! It brings God's message of love into finer focus and allows you a relaxed atmosphere to respond to Christ's call to a closer and deeper relationship with Him and other members of our parish. 
• Sacraments are part of the experience. Mass is celebrated and Reconciliation will be available.
